At times parents are turned off by their child’s choice of music, clothes, etc. causing a rift between the child and parent. Accepting your children for who they are can be quite difficult at times.  When we learn to accept our children we give them the permission to accept themselves.

As a result, the child voice is silent and they start seeking acceptance from their friends.  These children usually fall victim for peer pressure.

Another effective way to build self-esteem in children is by giving them gift of competence. Letting children experience life first hand and not been an overprotective parent will definitely help build competence.  Let him try to do it himself starting as a toddler.

The earliest your child starts practicing competence the better outcome and higher self–esteem your cultivating.  If your toddler is starting to walk give encouragement and it’s okay if he fails in the first try. When the toddler does start walking, make sure to give appropriate praising.

Becoming familiar with your child’s personality is one of the most important things you could do as a parent. It will help you cultivate a strong relationship with your child.

Making the time to get to know your child’s personality will help with communication, learning their behavior tendencies, and help identify your child’s characteristics.

Take the time to get to know to know your child’s personality by figuring out what makes your children upset, what makes them happy, and how do they relate to you.

Stop Criticizing 
Your Children

Parents should resist the urge to criticize their child efforts.  We must learn to provide unconditional support and encouragement instead.

If you’re constantly criticizing your child it will affect their emotional state of mind, cause low self-esteem, and they will lack interpersonal skills.

Building self esteem in children is the best gift that anyone can provide. It’s important for parents to take action early in their children lives.

Parents play a huge role in developing a child’s self esteem.  The child’s development will ultimately influence their behavior, interpersonal relationships,  and mental development.
